Wycliffe World Day of Prayer

Posted on November 11, 2013 by Miranda

Wycliffe’s World Day of Prayer is today, November 11.  We would like to invite you—our friends, families, and readers—to join us as we pause to pray for Bible Translation projects and Bibleless people groups around the world.  Today is a day on which Wycliffe remembers how we began—with prayer—and we will continue only with prayer. To read more about the history of the World Day of Prayer and how it came to be, click here.

This year’s theme comes from John 17:20-23, as Jesus prays for all believers:

20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

Some suggested prayer topics include:

  • Pray for people who need mother-tongue scriptures.
  • Pray for translation projects nearing completion.
  • Pray for unity for Wycliffe and its international network of partners as they work together toward this goal.
  • Pray for the translation projects in progress around the world.

The Wycliffe Global Alliance website has videos and other resources to guide you as you pray.  We hope you will join us in prayer!
