Being Still and Looking Forward

There are many things that I love doing, but anyone who has known me for more than a day would probably agree that waiting is not one of them.  My natural tendency is to act, plan, strategize, and “do” until something happens.  However, God continually brings me back to Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (ESV).

In the midst of my busyness, I am called to be still.  Sometimes, I watch my children attempt to sit still or wait for something they really want and it reminds me of what I must look like to God.  Their little bodies cannot stop fidgeting and they can’t seem to turn off their minds enough to relax, trust me, and be still.  This morning, I was making our favorite breakfast (peanut-butter-chocolate-chip baked oatmeal) and they were so eager to eat that they could not wait for it to come out of the oven.  They danced, stood around the oven, and begged for it to be finished.  So often, I do the same things.  God has something great in the works and I get so busy anticipating, planning, or “doing” that I fail to be still.

Today, I choose to wait.  Psalm 130:5-6 says, “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”  I have made the decision to be still, settle my soul, and look forward to what God is doing with anticipation.

We have been waiting for nearly 10 years for God to bring us to this point in our lives. And now we wait just a bit longer, as He brings us through this next season of developing our partnership networks. Many of you are waiting with us, expectantly, eager to see what He does next.

Our hope is to finish our partnership development within the next 10 months, by July 2014. Provided we meet our minimum partnership levels by this time, we will leave Houston in August 2014 for a month-long training in North Carolina.  In early September 2014, we plan to leave the U.S. and arrive in Germany, allowing us to be there before school starts mid-September. During this time of preparation, we are meeting with people and groups who may be interested in learning more about what God is doing in our lives, and what He is doing to make His word available in the heart-languages of the peoples of the world.

We are also building a team of partners to join us in this exciting calling.  If you are interested in learning more about being part of this team, please check out the partnership page.

If you would like more specific information, please send us a message or email and we would love to share more with you!
